The program supports a Greek visual artist’s participation in New York’s art world, with an emphasis on knowledge and professional relationships that can continue after the return to Greece.

Selection and professional development
Founded in 1971, the New York Foundation for the Arts supports artists through grants, professional development, fiscal sponsorship and career resources. Figures supplied for this program’s September 2026 announcement describe approximately one million constituents served each year online and in person, and approximately $84 million awarded through 17 grant programs to more than 13,000 artists.
George Petrides will not receive or review applications, have access to them, serve on the jury or participate in the selection. The New York Foundation for the Arts administers the application and independent jury process. Full eligibility rules, required materials, evaluation criteria and submission instructions will be provided in the call.

About George Petrides
George Petrides is a Greek-born, internationally prominent sculptor based between Athens and New York. His practice focuses on monumental figurative sculpture and public art, exploring history, identity, displacement and intergenerational experience. His work has been exhibited and permanently installed internationally in cultural, governmental, educational, healthcare and religious settings. As of September 2026, 40 public works were installed or in the process of installation around the world. His international traveling exhibition, Hellenic Heads, spans 10 cities over six years.
